Aerosmith has been called “America’s Favorite Rock Band”
due to the incredible number of albums they have sold, and the longevity
of their band’s existence. The different music the band introduced
made them popular almost overnight, and they continue to have a sound
unlike anyone else’s. To this day the band is performing all over
the world for sold-out crowds.
Steven Tyler met Joe Perry in 1969, and this meeting was what kicked
off the formation of the band. Both Tyler and Perry had been in other
bands, but none of them ever became particularly popular. Aerosmith
was officially formed in 1970 and brought out their first album in 1973.
They broke into the mainstream with their second album, “Toys
in the Attic” which still enjoys huge popularity.
Aerosmith suffered some internal problems in the early 80’s,
and their sales dropped considerably. Amazingly, in 1987 the band enjoyed
the popularity they used to have after the release of “Permanent
Vacation.” Their subsequent albums, “Push,” “Get
a Grip,” and “Nine Lives” continue to do well. CD
sales for all of these albums have reached multi-platinum.
All of the band’s songs are available as downloads, and most of
them have good popularity.
Aerosmith’s best selling single ever is “I Don’t
Want to Miss a Thing” off of the “Armageddon” soundtrack.
“Dream On” follows as their second-best download.
